After the fun of the last RoadTwip the team here at Tourism Wollongong jumped at the chance to host another.
This time, the original tweeters were mixed in with a group of print journalists – but all were equal in their love of Twitter which meant that anyone could follow our experiences as they happened.
Our journey kicked off at the Five Islands Brewery and we spent the night learning about wheat vs. barley beers, lemon or no lemon and sampling the brewery’s latest offering, the Dirty Deeds Dunkelweizen which certainly lives up to its name.
The group spent the night at the newly opened and very generously sized Quality Suites Pioneer Sands. Leigh and the team spoilt us with a much needed breakfast and coffee before we set off to the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk where we were spoilt with blue skies, clear views and a second breakfast!
From here we headed south east through Kangaroo Valley and to Coolangatta Estate where we feasted on the ever popular Coolangatta Regional Lunch Plate . All food is sourced locally and carefully selected to suit the two red and white wines which accompany.
From here we visited our southern neighbours in Burril Lake before heading back to Jervis Bay to road test the newest adventure on the bay….it sure got our stomach doing somersaults!
All in all a great weekend.
